Cacao Maca Japanese Yam Smoothie Recipe

I’ve been loving this filling, savory-sweet smoothie combo. I adapted from Blaire of Balance with B and must say I can’t get enough. It keeps me full for hours because it’s mindfully balanced with fiber, fat, and protein.

Make it:

1/2 roasted then cooled Japanese yam
1 tsp maca
1 tbsp cacao
1 tbsp almond butter (could sub any nut butter)
2 tbsp ground flax seed
1.5 cup nut milk

optional add-ins for sweetness: dates, banana, maple syrup

blend – pour – enjoy!

Life’s been chaotic lately. The last few months Life’s been chaotic lately. The last few months have been a fog emotionally and mentally and my body is feeling it (hello hormonal imbalances welcome back 🙃)
The change of scenery in Florida and now the change of season back home has me feeling re-awakened. My creativity is slowly coming back (@goldenhourmgmt has been working on a new site !) and my projects are starting to get downloaded (anyone else work this way?) 
Nature always bring me back to center. It’s a beautiful reminder of the natural progression & changes of our life. Whatever season you’re in just remember we all rebirth again ✨ #lwwj

Filmed an entire class last night without hitting Filmed an entire class last night without hitting record. 
Proud of myself for not getting upset about it, sure it was frustrating for like 2 seconds, but i quickly realized there was nothing i could do about it - it was what it was. So i did what was in my control and decided to refilm. 
This is a simple example of why i meditate & practice yoga. I could’ve easily let that upset me for the rest of the night into my sleep, dwell on it & beat myself up about it. Yoga and meditation have taught me a hell of a lot of patience & acceptance for what is. To lean into discomfort and find peace within it. To see what i can/can’t control, how i can find calmness in the chaos. 
We have the power to shift our thoughts, our perspective, our mood. Don’t let them run you 🌬

Recently i shared on my stories what i was taking and many of you were curious on how to navigate- same! I used to be very overwhelmed, so i researched and consulted my friend/coach @itskatenaranjo at @birdandbeehealth + my Chinese medicine doc @emergingenergy who also prescribes me herbs based on what we’re working on. I switch things up based on what’s happening with my body or what she needs (ie pregnant, breastfeeding, hormonal imbalances, eating harder-to-digest foods, etc). these are to *supplement* my diet, not to replace anything. 

Here’s an overview of my usual supplements: 

- probiotic @seed • supports digestion & feeds the microbiome 
- prenatal @ritual • multi-vitamin with folate for baby neurological growth *still taking while breastfeeding, even though I’m not pregnant :) 
- dha @nordicnaturals • omega-3 for overall health & to give my hormones extra TLC 
- zinc complex @newchapterinc • boosting immunity during covid & flu season
- magnesium @naturalvitalityofficial • for cellular processes, muscle support, stress & digestion 
- digestive enzymes @nowfoodsofficial • boost for digestive system as needed
